Be a part of a history that began in 1914 with the original opening of the Tepid Baths. Back then the pools were filled with sea water used to cool the machinery at the Auckland Electric Tramways powerhouse. The heated water was then pumped to the Tepid Baths. Today the baths are gas heated to 27°C and are filled with fresh water.

In 2010, the Auckland City Council closed the facility and began the $15.8 million repair and redevelopment - the closure was mourned by the many regular Tepid Bath users. The reopening in June 2012 has brought patrons back through the new glass doors in their droves and the feedback has been 100% positive.

The Tepid Baths reopened with the bigger, stunning 7 lane, 25m lap pool heated to 27°C. A smaller, 15m, and warmer (32°C) learner's pool with graduated depth is available for play and swim lessons from the smallest of babies (6 months) through to adults. Also onsite is a large spa pool heated to 39°C, a premium sauna and a steam room. The pool caters for all types of swimming from casual public access through the spectrum to elite squad swimming.

   

Regardless of age or ability, you and your family are encouraged to learn to swim at the Tepid Baths. Everyone is welcome in our specially catered swim classes that range to meet individual abilities. Professional instructors will take you through a step-by-step programme that will give you skills and confidence to enjoy the water.

The stand alone gym is equipped with cutting edge cardio, and weight equipment. With the ability to watch Sky TV on the cardio machines, you can work out while keeping abreast of your favourite programs.

We welcome everyone regardless of ability. Our aim is to improve accessibility to our facilities and provide active leisure opportunities for all people. At the Tepid Baths we have accessibility via hoist and ramps to the pools, and lift access to the gym.
